Our Mission And Vision

The idea of Nectar is to provide the children with a home and not a hostel set-up in the normal sense.
The children that are chosen are from very poor backgrounds or from difficult family backgrounds, where they often have to live with alcoholic or violent parents, or they have been abandoned by their parents and left with other relatives.

The criterion to give them access to Nectar is that at home they face insufficient funds for their education or there is no awareness of the importance of education or there is lack of a protected environment for the up-bringing of the children.

At Nectar the children have certain chores as they would at home, but are equally given the freedom to schedule their own day apart from school under competent guidance.

Food is available round the clock, they are allowed to allot their own time for homework and playing in their free time, and they can visit their parents and families as needed. Families are also allowed to visit at any time.

In this environment the children grow up with a sense of belonging and find it easier to develop awareness of their education and personal responsibilities.

The biggest prospect is to help them to be responsible, tolerant and educated persons, and to give them an understanding of their rights which are too often neglected in this part of the world.

Giving them not only access to good school education but also providing them with a home and additional tuition like English and music lessons, workshops and general knowledge etc. helps this purpose to a great extent.

The young people from the two batches that lived at Nectar since its inception are now able to earn their own living in good professions and support their families.

They are interested and open-minded persons that have a strong desire to help the next generation grow as well. Not only they come to Nectar and help out on a regular basis, they also have put forward ideas for their own charitable initiatives or are prompting their children's education.

Compared to the condition of people of the same age in society they are tolerant and understanding and have a better idea of the world and their rights to lead a meaningful life.
